Mental health? No thanks!

The value we give to something is essential: a new smartphone, a dinner, new clothes, beauty treatments become gifts we give ourselves to reward ourselves, pamper ourselves or console ourselves.

Why isn't asking for therapeutic help included in the list?
"Therapy is expensive"... even though we often don't even know how much a session costs...
"Therapy lasts years!"... in reality, "third generation" therapies (such as cognitive-behavioral therapy or CBT) are effective and short-term (even three or four months, depending on what you go to therapy for).
But after all, apart from money and time, what keeps us away from psychological therapy?
The fear of showing ourselves vulnerable is still a very common thought and present in our societies.
But why aren't we afraid of going to the doctor to ask for help?
Why is mental health different?
Perhaps our past has something to do with this fear: in many societies, "crazy" people were locked up in "special" hospitals, excluding them from society and leaving their families alone with their "shame". Perhaps this is where the need to hide one's own psychological distress or that of a family member comes from...
So what?
Well, we can continue to live with our thoughts or our fears without doing anything or free ourselves from mental barriers that are often inherited and look to change.
And remember that therapists are bound to professional confidentiality! They cannot reveal your secrets!
